Clear display

ALTAIR has a simple, easy-to-read display.
Its large numerical display reliably shows the remaining operating time, alarm states, maximum value display and time in alarm state since initial start-up.
The O2 version displays the current measured value as well as the minimum and maximum values simultaneously.

Maintenance-free operation (not calibration-free)

ALTAIR offers a guaranteed maintenance-free operation time of 2 years or 1080 alarm minutes. The unit will continue to operate until the end of the battery life, which may be longer than 2 years. Sensor or battery replacement is not necessary.
Do you want other alarm levels? If so, these can be set by the customer BEFORE the unit is put into operation; a factory setting before delivery requires a different unit model, as this must be changed accordingly by a service technician before factory delivery (= unit price RRP 250,- net).
Maintenance-free does not mean calibration-free --> see below!

Function test indicator

The "Gas Test" function can be activated by pressing a single button. ALTAIR then performs a simple function test, which is confirmed on the display as a tick and remains displayed as a check for the next 24 hours.
The built-in gas supply adapter eliminates the need for additional accessories to perform the function test.
 

Reliable clip

With the proven clip fitted as standard, ALTAIR can be attached almost anywhere. The particularly sturdy design of the clip ensures that the device is securely fixed even in the toughest applications.
 

Patented sensors

Patented MSA button sensors are used in both CO and H2S ALTAIR, while the O2 version uses a responsive 20 series sensor. ALTAIR is UL, cUL, ATEX and Australian Standards approved.

Rugged construction

ALTAIR is IP 67 rated, rugged and can easily withstand a 3 m drop. The extra strong rubber housing provides extreme impact and shock resistance and ensures effective dust and splash protection. Recessed metal screw connections give it a high degree of stability throughout its entire service life.

Remarkable alarm system

The ALTAIR's unique 3-way alarm system reliably warns the wearer of danger. It consists of an unmistakable acoustic alarm with 95 dB from a distance of 30 cm, super-bright LEDs that are visible from an angle of up to 320 ° and a powerful vibration alarm. The display always shows the remaining time of the unit (not the instantaneous concentration) and also indicates the alarm status "LO" or "HI".

Various applications
ALTAIR is suitable for the toughest applications in the most demanding conditions, e.g. chemical and petrochemical industries, construction, utilities, fire brigades and various industrial applications.

Effective event log
ALTAIR stores the last 25 alarm events and thus offers the possibility to assess past alarm situations. With its built-in infrared port, it can be connected to the MSA IR-Jeteye to read out data or change alarm thresholds via FiveStar Link 4.3.

 

MAINTENANCE - CALIBRATION

 Although the unit is maintenance-free, it must be calibrated if:

• national regulations require it (T 021 / T 023 BG RCI)
• the short test was not successful

For oxygen monitoring devices, calibration should be carried out in the following cases:

• when there is a change in atmospheric pressure (including change in altitude)
• in the event of extreme changes in ambient temperature
• if the short test was not successful

For devices monitoring toxic gases (CO, H2S), a calibration should be carried out in the following cases:

• after strong vibrations
• after extreme changes in ambient temperature
• after use under high gas concentration
• if the short test was not completed successfully
