The MSA Altair 2X makes short testing so easy that anyone, anywhere can do it! The science behind this novel technology will change the nature of portable gas detection. By combining a Pulse Check with a simple Flow Check, MSA Safety has created the first independent short test. The Pulse Check begins and a subsequent exhale into the device ends the short test. Result: Short test passed!

GO / NO-GO mode 
displays a simple OK instead of the numerical gas readings; this function ensures that workers leave a hazardous area in the event of an alarm, regardless of their personal understanding of the numerical gas readings

CONTINUOUS ALARM mode
ensures that any gas exposure in the alarm area is reported; in the event of an alarm, the ALTAIR 2X can be silenced but the red alarm LEDs will flash; reading the instrument memory via the IrDA interface resets the instrument and a proper incident report can be generated using the instrument data memory.
